Alejandría
It is said that the flashes from the Alexandria lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, can be seen 50 kilometres from the coast. They also say that its library, today reopen, used to house more than five hundred thousand volumes and that it was the centre of science and wisdom from its beginning up until the day that it was destoyed in a fire. But Alexandria, the mythical city also known as the 'Pearl of the Mediterranean', is much more than just this. 5,000 years of history have left their mark on each stone, its legacy in each corner. And, of course, in its gastronomy, a mix of Mediterranean and African flavours that have given rise to a cuisine as mysterious as the country itself.
